Meet Kat_
Compartment’s creator.
I started Compartment to share my belief that “less is more”, and my passion for creating beautifully organised spaces. Places where entertaining feels effortless, and family life flows with ease. But I wasn't born neat and tidy. It's been a process, embracing a minimalist lifestyle, discovering my love of design, and bringing the two together.
Growing up in rural Matamata on a dairy farm, I was raised to be hands-on from a young age. Despite my current lifestyle, I was not always a neat teen and tended to collect homeware and ornamental clutter. At 26, I travelled to the UK for my OE, living abroad for 10 years. London life was hugely influential as I developed the mindset and ethos that would eventually go on to shape Compartment. I also picked up fundamental skills during my time as an IT Project Manager for various companies including Hewlett Packard.
I eventually settled back in Auckland, where my perfectly folded towels and immaculate cupboards earned me plenty of good-natured ribbing. My friends began roping me into the “odd job”, helping to organise their own kitchens, wardrobes, bathrooms, kids rooms, and garages. Word got around, and just like that Compartment was born!
I believe everyone deserves the feeling of coming home to a beautifully organised space. I look forward to helping you create yours.
